Ocean blue eyes,
smile worth a mill.
body of a god,
always dressed to kill.

Holds me in his arms,
never let me go.
Breath apon my neck,
skin as white as snow.

Tell me that you love me,
tell me that you care.
Never ever hurt me,
tell me that your always there.

I never want to lose you.
even when we die.
When we are together,
I fall into the sky.

"Algae kill hundreds of California sea animals"- Associated Press

“The concentration of the toxin is so great this year that we haven’t had a chance to react to it,” Birkle said. “Normally we’re able to flush out the toxin with a treatment regimen ... This year they’re just coming in dead.”
Humans can’t be harmed by swimming in algae blooms but consuming fish and shellfish tainted with the acid can cause nausea, seizures and even death.- April 27th, 2007 Associated Press

From this article, ARE WE ABLE to Pinpoint the CAUSE of WHY more "blooms" are occurring this year?  Is is because the ocean is warmer this year?  Is the ocean warmer because of global warming?  Some scientists are skeptical...read below...

NEWSWEEK/ APRIL 16, 2007  The idea is to suck carbon out of the ambient air or—even more feasible—out of power plants where it's produced, and store it in the deep ocean or in depleted oil and natural-gas fields.

--Molecules of carbon dioxide stay in the atmosphere as long as 200 years; yes, carbon dioxide molecules belched out by Model Ts are still up there. As a result, "incremental reductions in CO2 emissions" as called for by the 1997 Kyoto Treaty and legislation pending in Congress "will not stabilize atmospheric CO2 levels," argues climate researcher Wallace Broecker of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, part of Columbia. "They only slow the rate of increase."

Wednesday, April 11, Seattle....um...Cloudy...but potential for sunshine...

For those of you have spent much time at the beach you certainly can relate to the affects the sand, sun, and salt air have on your mood.  It's immediate, intense, and Soulful!

In Southern California I first learned about the The Surfrider Foundation and its mission to empower people to take action to clean up the beaches and oceans.

"The Surfrider Foundation's greatest strength is our grassroots, community-based focus and our ability to act as local activists for the protection of the coast......"

Whether your lifestyle of choice includes the surf, mountains, or simply enthusiasm for natural landscapes...you have, at one time or many, CONNECTED to the Earth and become unbound by time, place, and status.  Your SOUL was filled with contentment.

Although I no longer live on the warm beaches of California...i am able to find the soul that the ocean has lent to me by journeying into the mountains as well as by strolling down my street at sunset.  I simply choose to remember my connection to it and it rushes over me....an endless humming of waves , the warmth of sand against my sun-kissed skin, and fresh salt air.

Just as I have discovered, you may find that foundations like Surfrider are popular because they are authentically based in a LIFE STYLE....and like any lifestyle....it takes soul to find authenticity and action to develop style....SOAK...RINSE...REPEAT.

The Surfrider Foundation are a source for you to go to when you find that you may need to find a bit of soul or perhaps you need to step up the ACTION.  Many other foundations provide this and I will touch on them throughout the FOUNDATION series: “From snow to the oceans and back again…”
The Surfrider Foundation emcompasses a variety of ACTION programs with which you can become a part of...such as the Snowrider Project.

"While the Snowrider Project was initially conceived to give snowboarders and skiers a vehicle for environmental activism, the range of participants and activists has expanded to include kayakers, canoeists, back-country adventurers and others who appreciate the sanctity of a clean, connected system." (Surfrider Foundation)

IF U STOP BY PLZ   LEAVE COMMENT  IF DONT I'LL HUNT U DOWN AND DO SOME VERY BAD

A Hawaiian woodpecker and a Californian woodpecker, who had managed to
fly across the ocean to Hawaii, were arguing about which place had the
toughest trees.

The Hawaiian woodpecker led him to a tree that no woodpecker could peck!

The Californian woodpecker challenged him and promptly pecked a hole in
the tree with no problem.

The Hawaiian woodpecker was in awe.

The Californian woodpecker then challenged the Hawaiian woodpecker to
peck a tree in California that was absolutely un-peckable.

The Hawaiian woodpecker expressed confidence that he could do it and
accepted the challenge.

So after flying to California, the Hawaiian woodpecker successfully
pecked the tree with no problem.

The two woodpeckers were now confused.

How is it that the California woodpecker was able to peck the Hawaiian
tree and the Hawaiian woodpecker was able to peck the California tree
when neither one was able to peck the tree in their own state?

After much woodpecker-pondering, they both came to the same conclusion:

Your pecker is always harder when you're away from home.

THE MIRACLE OF TOILET PAPER

Fresh from my shower, I stood in front of the mirror complaining to my husband that my breasts are too small. Instead of characteristically telling me it's not so, he uncharacteristically comes up with a suggestion.

If you want your breasts to grow, then every day take a piece of toilet paper and rub it between them for a few seconds".

Willing to try anything, I fetch a piece of toilet paper and stand in front of the mirror, rubbing it between my breasts. "How long  will this take?" I asked.

They will grow larger over a period of years," my husband replies.

I stopped. "Do you really think rubbing a piece of toilet paper between my breasts every day will make my breasts larger over the years?"

Without missing a beat he says "Worked for your butt, didn't it?"

He's still alive, and with a great deal of therapy, he may even walk again although he will probably continue to take his meals through a straw.

Stupid, stupid man

#7

Okay, so ive finally got the energy to write about my trip some more. Took a couple days but i made it. Oh and by the way, chocolate chip cookies and orange juice do NOT go well together.

So day three of the trip was pretty much the most important part. We went on our tour of the University of British Columbia campus. Ohhhh so pretty, theres sooo many gardens that overlook the ocean and mountains, and theres a movie theatre and yummy food. Oh and cool part of it was this new library they have, it has this robotic arm that will get the book for you. SOO COOL for lazy people like myself. But ya the tour wasnt anything that special, there was some kid from portland, OR in my group, i was jealous.

So anyways, after the tour we went to this part of Vancouver called 'Gastown' named after some guy called Gassy Jack or something.... It was pouring rain again, and i really needed to pee at this point and we were looking for a place to eat. So i saw a random italian restaurant and forced my parents to go cause i had to pee so bad. Turns out it was actually really good food and a really nice restaurant, thank you tiny bladder! mmm i had tortellini or however you spell it, thats my favourite pasta ever. yum.

After eating we went into this random museum thing that we found. There was all these old pictures and i found this poster that was all about me. It said..."T-Rex (then there was a picture of one) I'm Always Hungry". oh how i love food... Well anyways we didnt spend very long there cause we didnt buy tickets to see the exhibits cause we're cheap and lazy.

Well we went back to the hotel for a bit then decided to go see a movie at the IMAX theatre located in Canada Place, this crazy looking building. We saw The Polar Express in 3D!!! it was actually a really good movie, but better to watch like the day before christmas, not after christmas is over. It really wasnt the same.

We returned to the hotel and caught the end of the canucks vs. flames game. Canucks won in overtime ohhh man it was intense. And our hotel is right by the stadium so all the fans pouring out were screaming and cheering, haha it was sooo nuts outside.

So that was day three, not so exciting. But i have a good story for day four, aka the day i  went home. So we were on our flight from seattle to chicago, and i was sitting on the plane bored and i was just looking around. Then all of a sudden i spoted this newspaper that was hanging  from the side of the seat in front of me. Except all i saw was in bold giant letters the word GAY and i was just like wtf... so i was trying to manuver the newspaper so i could see what the whole title said but then my mom hit me and told me to stop. But then later the newspaper fell, so i picked it up and it said on it...THE GAY NEWSohhh man my mom and i were laughing sooooo hard, i mean not that theres anything wrong with being gay, i just had NO IDEA they made gay newspapers. honestly whats the difference?! the classifieds? but ya, after we landed the guy went on his phone and OH MAN HE WAS SOOO GAY! wow.

So thats my whole trip in a matter of three blogs. Pretty good i must say, long...but good =P Well i hope you've enjoyed it. If youve made it this far then you deserve a trophy and some cookies, but no orange juice. Honestly it tastes terrible.

Man can glide throught the air like a bird, Man can swim in the ocean like a fish. Man dig holes in the ground like a worm, but when will Man walk the earth like a Man?
